Yes, we have it!!!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What is Rhum Agricole?<\/p>\n<p>According to Wikipedia, &#8216;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rhum Agricole<\/strong>\u00a0is a type of\u00a0<a title=\"Rum\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rum\">rum<\/a>\u00a0distilled in one of the\u00a0<a title=\"French West Indies\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/French_West_Indies\">French West Indies<\/a>\u00a0islands from freshly squeezed\u00a0<a title=\"Sugar cane\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sugar_cane\">sugar cane<\/a>\u00a0juice rather than from\u00a0<a title=\"Molasses\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Molasses\">molasses<\/a>. Most rum is made from molasses, a byproduct of\u00a0<a title=\"Sugar refining\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sugar_refining\">sugar refining<\/a>\u00a0but when France began to make sugar from\u00a0<a title=\"Sugar beets\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sugar_beets\">sugar beets<\/a>, sugar prices plunged heavily. The debt ridden sugar factories could not survive solely on sugar production. The French islands found that fresh\u00a0<a title=\"Cane juice\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cane_juice\">cane juice<\/a>\u00a0was available for fermenting and distilling into rum.<\/p>\n<p>Much Rhum Agricole comes from the island of\u00a0<a title=\"Martinique\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Martinique\">Martinique<\/a>\u00a0though other islands in the French Caribbean, including\u00a0<a title=\"Guadeloupe\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Guadeloupe\">Guadeloupe<\/a>,\u00a0<a title=\"Marie-Galante\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Marie-Galante\">Marie-Galante<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a title=\"St. Barths\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/St._Barths\">St. Barths<\/a>\u00a0also produce it.\u00a0<a title=\"Reunion Island\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Reunion_Island\">Reunion Island<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a title=\"Mauritius\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mauritius\">Mauritius<\/a>, in the\u00a0<a title=\"Indian Ocean\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Indian_Ocean\">Indian Ocean<\/a>, also produce rum known as Rhum Agricole. Some Haitian Rums are considered agricoles as well.<\/p>\n<p>Martinique is most well known for Rhum Agricole because French law allowed for (and current European Union law allows for) an &#8220;Appellation d\u2019Origine Contr\u00f4l\u00e9e&#8221; (protected designation of origin) of &#8220;rhum agricole AOC Martinique&#8221; for rums produced on the island of Martinique that meet certain standards .<\/p>\n<p>It is the main ingredient in\u00a0<a title=\"Ti'Punch\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ti%27Punch\">Ti&#8217;Punch<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Rhum Agricole is usually distilled to 70% alcohol\u00a0(140 proof\u00a0in the U.S.) and then watered down to 40~55% (80-110 proof)when bottled. It may be aged as little as a few months (3 months at least for AOC rhum agricole) or for several years.
